China Trail Garden

Since 2016, the Town of Acton Natural Resources Division and the Friends of the Acton Arboretum, Inc. have collaborated with the Acton Chinese Language School, the Acton Chinese American Civic Society, the AB Cultural Council, and many volunteers to create the China Trail Garden. The trail connects the rhododendron garden to the fragrance garden via a 150-foot trail across a small, intermittent brook. The garden and trail integrates nature and culture with traditional Chinese aesthetics. A harmonious flow of plantings combines native species presently on site with familiar, non-indigenous plant species like paperbark maple, azalea, stewartia, and peony. The curved wooden boardwalks across the wet section of the trail and the red Chinese-style footbridge are attractive and functional in all seasons. The China Trail Garden was designed by Hongbing Tang, a professional landscape designer.
