Stumpery
The new stumpery garden is located along the Wildflower Trail, on the right, approaching the Fern Boardwalk. Volunteer, Joost Qaadgras arranged the stumps into several sculptures. Volunteers added new plantings over the course of 2025 in between and all around the decaying wood pieces. Plantings include many species of fern, coral bells, black huckleberry, primrose, clematis, a white fringe tree, native hydrangea, sweet spire, and mountain laurel. It was inspired by King Charles III of England’s garden at his private residence Highgrove House in Gloucestershire, at the suggestion of volunteer, Ardythe Ashley.
