Self Guided Tours of the Acton Arboretum

We have 2 self guided tours of the Acton Arboretum. One is the Arboretum’s Upper Grounds and the other is for the “Back 40” (in reference to the acreage.) Here you may download and print the tour map and the tour stop descriptions individually. Our tour map is based on the Town’s official Arboretum trail map.

Scroll to the bottom of this page for an audio tour. This tour will take you through the Arboretum in its entirety and corresponds with both the maps available on this page (the green Upper Grounds map and the red Back 40 map.) Enjoy listening as you stroll!

Arboretum’s Upper Grounds

The self guided tour map of the approximately 20 acres of the  Arboretum’s  Upper Grounds describes 13 numbered stops along the Wildflower and Orchard trails, including gardens, ponds and meadows.

Arboretum’s “Back 40”

The 8 numbered stops along the self guided tour of the Back 40 acres include the forested highland, the glacial bog and esker.
